Rehabilitation shelter for abused orphans

LFF is building a pilot rehabilitation shelter, which is scheduled to open by early 2009. The shelter will serve as a live model of the teachings of the LFF Academy and will give 30 severely abused orphans between the ages of 3 and 12 new hope, a home and an opportunity to overcome their fears and trauma.

The shelter will be a place where the most vulnerable, repeatedly and severely sexually abused or physically mistreated and traumatized children are given the chance to end the vicious cycle of abuse. The rehabilitation shelter aims to prove that knowledge, compassion and dedication can provide children with the necessary tools to flourish and lead a balanced life when they reenter society.

LFF works with a deep understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures and a professional network of volunteers. LFF seeks to bring the best information and knowledge to the rehabilitation shelter and all of its initiatives through:

Education: The Lotus Flower Blossom Program is used for children 3-6 years of age and applied as an assistance program for children 6-12 years of age following the traditional schooling offered in surrounding schools. The goal is to assist children to overcome past trauma and realize their full potential.

Medicine: Traditional medical care is complemented by alternative therapies such as Naturopathy, Reiki, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Psychological Support Therapy, Meditation, Chinese Medicine, Dance and Art Healing.

Environment: LFF seeks to incorporate green practices into the operations of the shelter by introducing responsible water, soil and waste management. This includes the use of local materials, using trees for shade and the use of solar power. LFF also has recycling, composting and farming projects.
