10 January 2010, Lotus children participate in local Children's Day

The Lotus children were overjoyed to participate in the Lard Bua Luang Children's Day. Games were played, songs sung, and happy hours spent with other children from the community. To experience the joy of meeting and playing with other children, and being able to share moments of fun and laughter, is one of the essences of childhood that many take for granted. Being able to participate in the Lard Bua Luang Children's Day meant a great deal to our charges at the LFF Home for Children.

‘Movement Therapy’ has been introduced to the LFF team by Gabrielle, and the practice is now being taught as part of the Lotus Flower Blossom Program. Gabrielle explains: “The benefits gained from daily exercises are important to the development of a healthy Body & Mind. Movement Therapy has a cathartic function that gives an outlet for the release of a child’s negative stored emotions, and enables them to replace this with positive energy.

The discipline learnt by a child from following an exercise regime is also important as it gives them a solid foundation on which to build later habits in life.” The LFF Home for Children's team has been learning the movement therapy sessions over the past weeks and has now successfully integrated the therapy form in the Home for Children on a daily basis.

15 January 2009, Lotus Flower Quality Program (LFQP) instead of new shelter in Nondburi

After a nationwide assessment of shelters caring for abused orphans, LFF has identified an urgent need to implement a Lotus Flower Quality Program, which sees to assist existing shelters with sustainable programs of upgrading shelters. To help address this LFF has decided to channel resources into support these existing shelters rather than building another new shelter in Nondburi. This decision is most valuable as it will benefit many more than our original 30 orphans.

The construction of the LFF Academy in Nonburi is progressing smoothly. Our investigation has once again underlined the great need for the LFF Academy with its teachings centered on children with special needs, trauma relief methods, environmental sustainability through a low cost model aimed at supporting the creation of meaningful homes for children. LFF, in the context of the LFF Academy, is set to play an important and active role in education and transmission of knowledge in order to eradicate child abuse in Thailand and neighboring countries.
