Events

LFF acts as a coordinator giving individuals the chance to contribute in greater ways than simple financial contribution. We invite partnerships with individuals, institutions, and commercial enterprises that can commit to help the cause through the utilization of their various networks, knowledge bases and fervor and passion to help. LFF is seeking increased participation with press and fundraising events in order to create greater public awareness towards the cause and its mandates.

22 November 2009, Monk ceremony to mark the opening of the Lotus Flower Foundation Home for Children

Together with HE, the Ambassador of Switzerland to Thailand, Christine Schraner Burgener, the foundation's patrons and supporters, the LFF team marked the opening of the LFF Home for Children with a monk’s chanting and blessing ceremony in Lard Bua Luang, Nonthaburi.

After the monk's chanting, LFF Founder Gabrielle von Reding expressed her heartfelt 'Thank you' to all the supporters, and underlined that as a direct result of their involvement in fundraising, creating awareness for the cause, and the donation of their valuable time, that the construction of a environmental and children friendly model shelter and training center has been achieved.

The on-site directors of the LFF Home for Children, Ajarn Deecha and his wife Ajarn Nussara - both highly competent and experienced individuals in the field of Social Welfare - were especially thanked and presented with a Swiss watch. Gabrielle, together with the LFF team, is looking forward to work towards the foundation's vision to make Thailand one of the leading model societies that affords every child a chance to grow up in a safe and balanced environment.

HE Schraner Burgener in her speech, compared the orphans who are in the foundation's care, to a lotus flower which needs legal security, shelter, food, and loving care before it blossoms. She generously handed each lotus child a present in form of a Swiss baseball hat.

The Home for Children will give up to 25 orphaned children a caring home they so badly need. It has been established as a ‘home’, rather than an institution. Another key function of the Home for Children is to act as ‘model shelter’ and training center for Thailand: to showcase, and transmit, the benefits of the Lotus Flower Blossom Program (a curriculum which integrates child centred education and trauma relief work) to caregivers from shelters throughout the country. In this way, in addition to the orphans resident at the Home for Children, hundreds of others can also be reached and helped, thus considerably extending the reach of the program.

Thank you for connecting your work with us.

30 July 2009, Meetings in Truth charity workshop at Kamalaya, Koh Samui with proceeds donated to the LFF

Kamalaya Koh Samui and internationally renowned healer Isaac Shapiro were delighted to announce that Isaac's trademark workshop held on 30 July has raised a total of THB 33,900 to aid the LFF in combatting child abuse in Thailand and surrounding countries.

The workshop, "Meetings in Truth", was attended by more than 20 Kamalaya guests, healthcare practitioners and members of the Koh Samui community. It functioned as an exploration of living life in alignment with the world's wisdom traditions, focusing on the ability present within each of us to be present in a productive and enjoyable way for each moment of our lives.

Isaac drew in participants with questions about the way each of us perceives events in our lives, emphasizing ways in which each of us can choose our reactions to our benefit and that of others. So it is only appropriate that the proceeds from this event will benefit the Lotus Flower Foundation, which works in proactive ways to improve the prospects of children throughout Asia.

The event took place from 11.00 until 18.00, and included a buffet lunch featuring a broad sampling of Kamalaya's healthy and inspiring cuisine. There, guests held a lively discussion for an hour and a half on principles presented in the workshop, and ways in which they could be practically applied. Heartfelt Thank You to Isaac and Kamalaya team for their kind support towards LFF.

22 October 2008, LFF fundraising evening at the Viennese Bangkok Opera Ball, Intercontinental Hotel Bangkok

Celebrating the 140th year of bi-lateral relations between Austria and Thailand, the Austrian Embassy hosted the Viennese Debutante Opera Ball in Bangkok on Wednesday 22 October. As the young women and men made their debut into society, the Lotus Flower Foundation was present to raise awareness about the foundation and also give people the opportunity to support a very worthwhile cause for exploited and abused children throughout Thai society.

The LFF dream team came together to support fundraising efforts on the night by creating refreshing LFF cocktails for ball guests; a total of 15,000 baht was raised, thanks also to the sponsorship of Below42 Vodka. The evening was a wonderful success in awareness raising for the plight of orphans in Thailand as guests purchased LFF wrist bands to show their solidarity and talked about the foundation with LFF volunteers. A highlight of the evening was the performance by LFF patron Mint who brought tears to the eyes of the audience with her magical rendition of "SOMEWHERE" in collaboration with the Viennese philharmonic orchestra; a poignant reminder that no matter where we are around the globe, we can all be connected with our hearts.
